Find a way forward
in your relationship.

Couples counselling for communication, connection and the conversations that feel difficult to have.

When the same conversation keeps going nowhere.

You might be arguing more, feeling further apart or avoiding subjects that matter. You may still care deeply about each other and feel unsure how to change the pattern.

Couples counselling offers a structured opportunity to understand what happens between you, practise different ways of communicating and clarify what each person needs. The work may focus on strengthening the relationship or making considered decisions about its future.

Common starting points

  • Recurring arguments or withdrawal

  • Feeling distant or disconnected

  • Trust after hurt or betrayal

  • Different needs and expectations

  • Life changes and decisions about the relationship

Make room for a different conversation.

Understand the pattern

Notice how difficult conversations unfold and what each person experiences.

Practise repair

Work on listening, expressing needs and returning to conversations with care.

Clarify the next step

Discuss what meaningful change would look like and how to recognise progress.

Suitability and safety come first.

Couples counselling is not suitable for every situation. If there is fear, coercion, control or violence, contact the practice individually, if it is safe for you to do so, before arranging a joint appointment. The first step is to consider what support is safe and appropriate.

People of different genders, sexualities and relationship backgrounds are welcome.

Not sure where to start?

You can make an individual enquiry about the process before asking your partner to attend.

Ask about couples counselling

Before a couples appointment.

Do we have to be married?

No. You can enquire whether you are dating, partnered, married or considering separation.

Will you tell us whether to stay together?

The work supports you to understand your options and make your own informed decisions. It is not a promise that the relationship will continue.

Can we meet online?

Online couples counselling is available via Zoom. Please discuss privacy, location and suitability with Isaac before confirming a joint appointment.

How much does counselling cost?

Couples counselling: $155 before 5 pm; $165 after 5 pm. Fees are in AUD per 50-minute session.
