Accessibility Statement

We at Yurandalli are working to make our site yurandalli.com.au accessible to people with disabilities.

Our commitment

We are working towards making this website conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1/2.2 Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines provide a recognised standard for making web content more accessible to people with a wide range of abilities and support needs.

We also seek to align our website with the principles of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth) and relevant NSW anti-discrimination and human rights guidance on accessibility and equal access to services.

What we are doing

To support accessibility, we strive to:

  • Use clear, simple and respectful language wherever possible.

  • Maintain a consistent layout and navigation structure.

  • Provide sufficient colour contrast between text and background.

  • Ensure text is resizable using browser controls, and pages are readable on different screen sizes and devices.

  • Support keyboard navigation for key interactive elements where possible.

  • Provide meaningful link text (for example, avoiding “click here” where we can).

  • Use headings and structured content so that screen readers can interpret pages more effectively.

  • Avoid content that flashes or may otherwise increase the risk of discomfort, distress or sensory overload where possible.

Where we embed content from other websites or services (for example, maps, booking tools or videos), we aim to choose providers that support accessibility, but some aspects of those external services may be outside our direct control.

Ongoing improvements

Accessibility is an ongoing process. We regularly review our website and welcome feedback to identify and prioritise improvements, including:

  • Fixing issues that create barriers for screen reader users and keyboard users.

  • Improving alt text for images and descriptions for key visuals.

  • Reviewing any forms or booking processes to make them simpler and easier to navigate.

  • Ensuring new content and features are designed with accessibility in mind from the start.

If you have difficulty using this website

If you experience any issues accessing information on this website, or if something is hard to see, read, understand or interact with, please let us know. We can often provide information in another format or assist you directly.

You can contact Yurandalli via:

  • Email: admin@yurandalli.com.au

  • Online booking form: Use the booking webform on this website, and, if needed, add a note about any accessibility needs or preferred contact method.

If emailing or using the webform, it can be helpful (but not essential) to tell us:

  • Which page or content you were trying to access

  • What went wrong or what was difficult

  • Any assistive technology or device you are using (for example, a screen reader, screen magnifier, or mobile device).

We will do our best to respond within a reasonable timeframe and to provide an accessible alternative wherever possible.

Alternative contact options

If you cannot use the website at all or prefer not to use online forms, you can still contact Yurandalli directly by email (details above) to:

  • Ask questions about our services

  • Make or change an appointment

  • Request information in a different format

  • Provide feedback or make a complaint.

Feedback about accessibility

We value feedback from people with lived experience of disability and from anyone who encounters barriers on our site. Your input helps us improve our online presence and ensure that Yurandalli’s counselling services remain as inclusive, respectful and accessible as possible.

If you would like, you can also raise broader accessibility concerns with external bodies such as the Australian Human Rights Commission or the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board. However, we encourage you to contact us first so we have an opportunity to address the issue directly.

As a Gamilaraay Murri living and working on Dharawal Country, I acknowledge the Dharawal people as the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters where Yurandalli is grounded, honouring their strength, wisdom, leadership, and ongoing connections to Country, language, story, kin, and spirituality. I pay my deepest respects to Elders past and present, and to young people carrying culture forward. I also acknowledge my own Gamilaraay kin, Country, and ancestors, whose courage, creativity, and community care shape my journey alongside all peoples. Guided by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being, and doing, Yurandalli is committed to amplifying First Nations voices, solutions, and healing practices, contributing to the long story of First Nations survival, joy, resistance, and renewal.
